OUR MISSION
The Newington Education Foundation encourages and supports excellence in education by providing funding for innovative projects and programs which enhance student learning.
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
The Newington Education Foundation is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization founded in 1996 by three former chairs of the Newington Board of Education. The Foundation seeks to fulfill its mission through mini-grant awards. The Newington Education Foundation is an affiliate of the Connecticut Consortium of Education Foundations, Inc. www.CTCEF.org.
THE MINI-GRANT PROGRAM
Educators within the public school system submit mini-grant applications detailing the project concept, the anticipated benefits to the students involved, a list of materials necessary, and the overall cost of the project.
A committee of Foundation members then reviews these applications. The projects selected are recommended to the NEF Board of Directors for approval and funding. This mini-grant review occurs twice a year.
